Our trainees are continuing to excel in our in-house training scheme passing accountancy exams that see them fast on the road to qualifying as Chartered Accountants.
Last year two top grade school leavers were hand-picked from a local college to join our well-established in-house accountancy training scheme. Lewis Durrant and James Hamilton, both ex-Wyke College students, are the latest trainees to pass examinations that see them on the road to qualifying as Chartered Accountants.
Lewis, 20, joined Dutton Moore after completing an AS Level in Accounting. He has now passed his Foundation Level AAT exams and the first section of his Advanced Level AAT exams.
James, 20, joined the team after completing A Levels in Business, Law, Maths and Accounting. He has now completed his Advanced Level AAT exams and is now working on his Professional AAT exams.
Alongside their training and exams their roles include producing year end statements, VAT returns, assisting on audits, produce working papers and tax work.
Dutton Moore has a long history of investing in young local talent and has an enviable in-house training scheme backed up by the professional examinations. Many of Dutton Moore’s accountants, including most of the Partners, joined Dutton Moore straight from school, college and university and have gone on to forge very successful careers at the city centre practice and in industry.
Tony Bullock, Managing Partner, said: “I am delighted with James and Lewis’s progress with their exams. They are proving to be a great asset to the firm and are working hard to attain their full qualifications.
“We are constantly investing in our future. It’s good to stay local and work with local people – we have the talent here and it’s important to harness it. Investing in our city and ultimately in our firm is a priority to us at Dutton Moore. We want to give the jobs we have available to people on our doorstep. The calibre of students historically has been very good and we are pleased to welcome these new team members as they forge out successful careers with us.”
James commented: “I was always delighted to have this opportunity to work and learn at the firm’s excellent in-house training scheme. This is just the next step towards qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.”
Lewis added: “I am working hard to gain my qualifications alongside the excellent on-the-job experience that I am gaining in accountancy here at Dutton Moore. More studying and exams ahead in 2018 and I am enjoying the challenge.”
